This is a varied and interesting role with a purpose, working with a diverse team of dedicated volunteers including seniors, students and people from diverse backgrounds. This role is central to creating a sense of community within the organisation and ensuring all volunteers participate safely in operational activities.
The primary role of the Volunteer Coordinator is to recruit, train, coordinate and retain a team of regular volunteers who attend Trillion Trees every week. Working closely with the small staff team and CEO, you will assign volunteers to tasks, roles and responsibilities within their capacity and in line with their skills and preferences.
Consistent and clear oral and written communication with all staff and regular volunteers is integral to the role, to ensure volunteers are aligned to the primary mission and broader operational objectives of Trillion Trees. A significant part of the role supports volunteer engagement in propagation and production processes at the Trillion Trees Community Nursery, whilst maintaining a keen eye for the ongoing and periodic needs of the wider organisation.
Experience in horticulture, conservation or a related field is essential, along with experience in supervision and/or training, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
