Back in July, we launched our cuttings season with a talk and demonstration by Trish Esslemont, one of our regular volunteers. Trish worked as a Horticulturalist at King’s Park and Botanic Garden for 25 years and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in propagating Australian native plants from cuttings.
During the presentation, volunteers learnt why we propagate certain plant species from cuttings, different types of cuttings and their advantages and disadvantages, as well as how to take good quality cuttings to have a high success rate.
We also grow native plants by seeding and division.
The cuttings season will continue in the Trillion Trees Community Nursery until December, making the next few months an ideal time to join our volunteer team!
