Reconciliation Week: 27 May - 3 June #nowmorethanever

May 30, 2024 in Restoration

#nowmorethanever we acknowledge that we need to work with the traditional owners of the land, and walk together to find the best outcomes for nature. At Trillion Trees Australia, we support two way science, using a combination of traditional indigenous knowledge and modern science to heal country. We are taking steps to use local Noongar language in our restoration work, and researching Noongar plant names to adopt them in signage for the plants we provide to the public.

We feel very privileged to work with local Elders on our restoration projects in Perth and the Wheatbelt, and support First Nations-owned businesses providing these plants for our regional projects, but #nowmorethanever we acknowledge that there is so much more we could do.

#nowmorethanever, we need to tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation. We support truth-telling, in understanding our history, in education, and in tackling racism. We need connection. We need respect. We need action. And we need change. Now more than ever, we need reconciliation.
