The Trillion Trees team were pleased to recently host a visit with Hon Tim Clifford MLC, Member of the Legislative Council for Greens (WA).
We toured the Trillion Trees community nursery and visited our Mandoon Bilya Restoration Project, which will see 6500 native sedges, rushes and trees planted along the riverbank this winter.
Tim showed a keen interest in environmental issues and was particularly concerned about the proposal for a huge data centre just 200m from Trillion Trees in Hazelmere.
We took a walk to the proposed development site and discussed the scale of the proposal, which will tower over the primary school next door.
A walk along the Mandoon Bilya (Helena River) gave him an opportunity to see the precious natural environment which is at grave risk if this proposal goes ahead. A huge data centre on the banks of the Mandoon Bilya brings massive risks of water, noise and light pollution that will harm the environment and the wildlife within it.
We thank Tim for his interest and support for our cause.

If you haven't already done so, please write to your local MP sharing your concerns about the Hazelmere data centre proposal, which will go before the Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel in May.
