Trillion Trees volunteers Ian Lemon, Zay Htway and Win Win Khine were recently recognised at the Hasluck Volunteer Awards at Midland Town Hall, which acknowledge and thank volunteers who have gone above and beyond to serve the community in the electorate of Hasluck.
For the past six years, Ian has been a cornerstone of the Trillion Trees community. Volunteering two days a week year-round in the nursery, he ramps up his hours during planting season to deliver thousands of plants, helps weed and mulch our planting sites and delivers equipment to ensure our planting days run smoothly. He always brings an outstanding attitude and is willing to lend a hand with just about anything. Ian’s dedication is invaluable to Trillion Trees and he is always a pleasure to work with.
Zaw and Win started volunteering at Trillion Trees in November 2024 and since then have become valuable members of our volunteer team. Originally from Myanmar, they speak multiple languages and have a strong drive to give back to their community. Everybody is amazed at Zaw and Win’s work ethic, and they often seed or propagate twice as many plants as anyone else on any given day in the community nursery. They always come in with a positive attitude and are willing to lend a hand with whatever needs to be done. Zaw and Win look out for others, and we appreciate their dedication and the positive influence they have on our organisation as a whole.
Ian and Zaw were thanked by Tania Lawrence MP and presented with awards to recognise the dedication, hard work and positive attitudes they bring to their volunteer work at Trillion Trees Australia. Unfortunately Win was unable to attend the awards as she was busy volunteering with another community group!
Trillion Trees was also given the Inclusivity Award, in recognition of our Volunteer Shelter and Canopy projects, which have made our volunteer spaces more accessible to all.
Trillion Trees is a not for profit organisation proudly powered by volunteers.
