We are thrilled to secure a new partnership with the team at Identity Digital which will fund our work to plant 25,000 trees over the next 4 years at Guildford Meadows.
Located on the banks of the Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River) in Caversham, this restoration
project contains a significant remnant wetland, once surrounded by riparian vegetation and
a Eucalyptus rudis (Moitch / Flooded Gum) Woodland which was cleared in the 1930s.
Now a part of Whiteman Park, it provides viable habitat for threatened and at-risk native
animal species, and is home to significant, registered cultural sites of the local Noongar
people.
Mandoon Moitch (Guildford Meadows) is considered an area of significant environmental importance, due to its impressive population of native flora and fauna, and that its water flows from the Gnangara Water Mound. Since 2016, local volunteers have planted 86,000 trees on this key restoration site.
Patrick Donaldson, Country Manager at Identity Digital Australia is enthusiastic about the partnership: “This relationship with Trillion Trees solidifies our commitment to giving back to the planet and supporting standout Australian organisations in the work that they do.”
Trillion Trees Australia CEO Mark Hullett says: “We are thrilled to partner with Identity Digital and proud to have Patrick and the team join us as ambassadors for trees through the planting of our wonderful site at Guildford Meadows near Perth. This property is planted out by Trillion Trees Australia volunteers, with two hectares and over 6,000 trees being planted each season courtesy of our four year partnership.”
For now, the Trillion Trees community nursery volunteers will propagate the trees before they are planted in June 2025, when conditions in the wetlands are optimal.
Chief Strategy Officer at Identity Digital, Ram Mohan, explains how this project will assist in meeting Identity Digital’s sustainability objectives and be of benefit to everyone involved. “We aim to go further, in Australia and beyond. Which is why we are working with key suppliers and partners such as auDA to co-create innovative sustainability strategies. Together, we will drive positive change and make a powerful impact across Australia.”
