Trillion Trees Australia has been working in partnership with Activate Tree Planting for many years - in fact Activate Tree Planting began as an offshoot of Trillion Trees Australia before growing to stand independently. In 2023 and 2024 we have worked in partnership with Activate Tree Planting to plant 40,000 native trees and plants at West Dale near Beverley in the Wheatbelt. This property mostly contained remnant vegetation with multiple plant communities. Much of the area is Wandoo over laterite.
Activate Tree Planting delivers a fantastic weekend tree planting festival where up to 100 people come together to plant trees as a community. These annual tree-planting music festivals are run by volunteers, uniting the love of our earth with music, art, healthy food, indigenous culture, community and great fun.
We are thrilled that the plants for this site have been supplied by Noongar Land Enterprise's Boola Boornap Nursery. Australia’s first not-for-profit, Aboriginal-led grower group, NLE strives to facilitate a collective approach to land management enterprise development on Noongar land. Seeking to reclaim the relationship between people and Country, approximately 70 per cent of Boola Boornap’s staff are Aboriginal, with the majority hailing from the local Ballardong Noongar community. Working with Boola Boornap fulfils our organisational goal to engage in meaningful First Nations relationships wherever possible. Boola Boornap is located close to the planting site which ensures the plants are climate adapted to suit local conditions as far as possible.
During Australia’s early colonial era, the Wheatbelt region experienced the clearing of critical bush land for farming practices. This mass destruction of the region's natural habitat has caused many serious environmental issues including salinity, erosion of soil, loss of habitat and of native species. We have been working in the region for more than 20 years, restoring habitats and returning the natural environment to health and harmony.
